The agency said in a statement that the quake occurred at around 05:11 local time (one hour behind GMT), with its epicenter about 60 kilometers west of Sines, located about 90 kilometers south of Lisbon.

Portuguese President Marcelo de Sousa has called a meeting today with the acting Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel, to discuss the situation.
