A armed formation of the Lebanese Shiite group, an ally of Iran, stated, in a series of statements, that one of its actions included firing anti-tank guided missiles at an Israeli Merkava armored vehicle, which was hit “directly” when it was firing at Lebanese territory from across the border.
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for attacks on a barracks in Zarait that involved guided missiles and artillery shells, as well as the siege of Zabdin in the disputed Chebaa Farms.
The Shiite group stated that its actions were a response to Israeli attacks in recent weeks, which caused civilian casualties in southern Lebanon, hitting “villages and civilian residences” in the Mediterranean country.
The latest Israeli action involving civilian casualties occurred on Wednesday, when a drone attack on a road in southern Lebanon killed the driver of a car and injured three students in a school van, the Lebanese National News Agency reported at the time ( ANN).
Israel and Hezbollah have been involved in the most intense clashes since the 2006 war for more than seven months, in a crossfire that takes place in the context of the war in the Gaza Strip.
