A Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, was attacked and assaulted by a man in the Kultorvet area, in the center of Copenhagen, this Friday.
According to the country’s news agency, Ritzau, which cites the police and the governor’s office, Mette Frederiksen was in a state of shock, and it is not clear at this point whether she was injured.
One man was also detained following the incident.
His office also clarified, cited by Politiken, that it will not comment further on the incident – not even on the health status of the head of the Danish government.
Denmark’s Environment Minister, Magnus Heunicke, has already reacted on the social network X, stating that the attack on the Prime Minister “shakes everyone close to her” and that something like this “should not happen” in the country.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was today assaulted and beaten by a man on Kultorvet in Copenhagen.
Mette is naturally shocked by the attack. I must say that it shakes all of us who are close to her.
Something like this must not happen in our beautiful, safe and free…
