UA police officer who was escorting the Prime Minister of Hungary on a trip to Germany died this Monday after a car collided with the motorbike he was riding.

The accident occurred in the city of Stuttgart, where Viktor Orbán had gone to watch Hungary play against Scotland at Euro2024 on Sunday.

The Hungarian Prime Minister was heading to Stuttgart airport.

Another police officer was seriously injured following the collision but the Hungarian Prime Minister was not hit, reports the Associated Press.

A squad of motorcyclists from the Stuttgart traffic police were escorting the Hungarian leader when the driver of a car collided with an officer who was following on a motorbike. This agent, on a motorbike, was thrown, ramming another who was isolating an intersection. The first agent died and the second was seriously injured.

According to the Stuttgart police, the driver did not see that an intersection was closed to traffic, colliding with the officer’s motorcycle as he tried to turn left.

The Ludwigsburg police took over the investigation of the incident.
