OThe French have shown “their desire to turn the page on seven years of contemptuous and corrosive power” under head of state Emmanuel Macron, said Le Pen, who was elected in the first round in her northern constituency.
The “macronist bloc” has been “practically annihilated”, said the RN leader, appealing to the French people to give the far-right party “an absolute majority” in the second round, scheduled for next Sunday, July 7.
“There is nothing more normal than political alternation, for that, we need an absolute majority”, in order to leave President Emmanuel Macron no alternative other than to nominate the RN candidate for Government leadership, Jordan Bardella.
“Nothing is won in advance, the second round will be decisive to prevent the country from falling into the hands of Nupes [coligação de esquerda atualmente designada por Frente Popular]which is far left and has violent tendencies”, he added.
An absolute majority for Bardella, Marine Le Pen continued, will contribute to “restoring unity and national harmony”.
The RN leader warned voters not to be “frightened or scared” by those who want to “make the current system last” [político]which didn’t work.”
“The rights [do povo] are guaranteed and, as soon as possible, other new rights will be created”, he said.
The far-right National Union (RN) party, led by Marine Le Pen and her allies, is ahead in the first round of the French legislative elections, with more than 34% of the vote, according to first projections.
The far right is currently ahead of the left-wing alliance New Popular Front, which according to exit polls will have a result of between 28.5% and 29.1%. The party in President Emmanuel Macron’s camp is even further behind (20.5% to 21.5%).
