The president of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), Ramón Jesurún Franco and his son Ramón Jamil Jesurún were released on Monday after paying a $2,000 bail in Miami (USA), after being arrested for taking part in an incident in an elevator at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday during the Copa America final.

The director and his son left the Miami-Dade correctional facility (Florida) where they were detained and assured the press that they were abused, as they were accused of assaulting an officer, according to videos published by local Colombian media.
“My ID says ‘full access’ and a security guard, one of those who wants to act important, ignored it. How did the arrest of the Jeshuruns take place?
Jesurún, 71, and his 43-year-old son were arrested at the end of the match in which Argentina beat Colombia 1-0, in a final that was marked by disorder and chaos caused by thousands of ticketless fans who broke through security barriers.

Hours before the start of the match, hundreds of people without tickets broke through security barriers, climbed over fences and jumped over the turnstiles to enter the venue, a situation that caused chaos, stampedes and forced the closure of the gates, as well as delaying the start of the match.
Videos posted on social media showed fans jumping over gates in the southwest corner of the stadium and running to avoid being hit by law enforcement officers and staff.
There were even images of fans trying to enter through the stadium’s ventilation ducts.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava made it clear that the responsibility for what happened on Sunday at the sports venue lies with the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).
