O US President Joe Biden is recovering from Covid-19 and his symptoms have “almost completely disappeared”. The Democrat’s health status was updated on Monday by his doctor, who added that Biden “continues to perform all presidential duties”.
“President Biden completed 10 doses of Paxlovid this morning. His symptoms have almost completely resolved,” read a letter from Dr. Kevin O’Connor, released by the White House.
“The pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. The oxygen saturation remains excellent in room air. His lungs remain clear,” he adds.
It should be noted that the White House confirmed last Friday that the President of the United States had tested positive for Covid-19 while campaigning in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he is giving up his re-election campaign and is endorsing Kamala Harris as a possible successor after weeks of internal pressure to drop out of the race.
The 81-year-old White House leader, whose health has been questioned, said he would explain his decision later in a speech to the nation.
In less than 24 hours, Kamala Harris has already managed to secure the support of more than 700 delegates out of the 1,986 needed to be the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, according to a count compiled by the AP.
To be a candidate against Trump in November, the US vice president must be confirmed by delegates at the Democratic National Convention, which will take place in Chicago from August 19 to 22.
