At least five statues of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez have been toppled. These are symbolic images of the regime that millions of citizens hope to see fall.

Amid cries and calls for freedom, one by one the statues of former President Chávez were torn down in the states of Aragua, Carabobo, Falcón, Guárico and La Guaira.
During one of the protests, the head of one of the monuments was tied with a chain to a motorcycle that dragged it through the streets of the city of Mariara, Carabobo.
Other Venezuelan citizens, With their own hands, they have torn down the monuments.
Why are they protesting in Venezuela?
The protests come amid growing allegations of possible electoral fraud in favor of President Nicolás Maduro, who has raised the flag of Chavez since his death in 2013.
“The groups are rejecting a historical figure, they are trying to revise the history that is being told or it is simply an expression of pain and frustration in a search for social justice,” said Venezuelan political scientist RĂłmulo CĂłrdoba.
These actions have great symbolic weight, which demonstrate the magnitude of the discontent of the Venezuelan people.
