OThe data was updated at a press conference in Caracas by Foro Penal (FP), an NGO that expressed concern about the use of firearms in the protests.

“First of all, I would like to talk about the most alarming number, which is the number of deaths in these demonstrations that began after [a divulgação de] the election results and which, in some way, are related to the opposition’s claim for the results”, explained the NGO’s director.

“There are 11 people, confirmed by the different organizations present here, who died in these protests or demonstrations, 5 of whom were murdered in the city of Caracas, two in the state of Zulia, two in Yaracuy, one in Aragua and one in Táchira,” he said.

Venezuela has seen protests in several regions of the country since Monday, some of them violent, contesting the results announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Venezuela’s National Council of Neighbors officially proclaimed Nicolás Maduro as President on Monday for the period 2025-2031.

According to the CNE, Nicolás Maduro was reelected for a third consecutive term with 51.20% of the votes, having obtained 5.15 million votes.

The main opposition candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, obtained just under 4.5 million votes (44.2%), according to official data released by the CNE.

The Venezuelan opposition, however, claims victory in the presidential elections, with 70% of the votes for its candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, according to opposition leader María Corina Machado, refusing to recognize the results proclaimed by the CNE.
