“EThis position is shared by numerous countries, governments and international organizations,” Peruvian Foreign Minister Javier González-Olaechea told state channel TV Peru.

Regarding Maduro, proclaimed the winner by the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE), the minister added that Peru considers him “as a person who wants to perpetuate himself in power through a dictatorship”, taking into account “the fraud perpetrated” in Sunday’s elections.

The chancellor explained that he contacted the opposition leader, María Corina Machado, by telephone, expressing solidarity with her and González Urrutia.

The main opposition coalition, the United Democratic Platform (PUD), claimed that its candidate won the presidency by a wide margin (73%) and created a website to which it uploaded minutes from polling stations across the country, which confirmed election results contrary to the official ones.

The CNE granted victory to President Maduro with just over 51% of the votes, ahead of the main opposition candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, who obtained 44% of the votes.

The opposition and part of the international community doubt these results and demand more transparency and an analysis of the electoral records.

Russia, Iran, China and other countries in the region ideologically close to the Chavista regime led by Maduro congratulated the President shortly after his re-election was declared on the night of Sunday to Monday.

Many other countries have made their position conditional on the release of more data on the tabulation of results.

Today, the secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS) challenged Nicolás Maduro to clarify whether he accepts defeat in Sunday’s presidential elections, in which the opposition claims victory, accusing the regime of “fraudulent manipulation” and “repression.”

“Throughout this electoral process, the Venezuelan regime has applied its repressive scheme, complemented by actions aimed at completely distorting the electoral result, making it available for the most aberrant manipulation, which continues to this day,” said Luis Almagro, in a statement released today by his office.

The “Maduro regime”, he continued, “has ridiculed important actors in the international community over the years and, once again, has launched an electoral process without guarantees, mechanisms and procedures to enforce those guarantees”.

“The complete manual for fraudulent manipulation of the election result was applied in Venezuela on Sunday night, in many cases in a very rudimentary way,” criticized the organization’s head.

An extraordinary session of the Permanent Council of the OAS, an organization based in Washington, is scheduled for Wednesday to evaluate the electoral results of the Venezuelan presidential elections.

Venezuelan human rights organization Foro Penal said today that at least six people, including two minors, died during protests that have been taking place in the country since Monday against the re-election of Nicolás Maduro.

The director of the Penal Forum, Alfredo Romero, in statements to the press and reproduced on the page of the non-governmental organization (NGO) on the social network X, also reported 132 people detained by the authorities in this period that he called “post-election”, referring to the protests that have been repeated in several Venezuelan cities since Monday against the results of Sunday’s presidential elections, announced by the authorities.

According to Romero, most of the people were detained in the capital, Caracas, but he also reported “a significant number” of detainees in the state of Zulia.

Also today, Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab said that a member of the Armed Forces had died from gunfire he attributed to protesters in the northern state of Aragua. In addition, at least 48 police and military personnel were injured.

Saab also revealed “a preliminary number of 749 delinquents arrested”, adding that the majority were accused of “resisting authority” and “in more serious cases, terrorism”.
