In summer, with the high temperatures, it is important to drink well and always have water on hand. However, there are certain places where you should not leave your water bottle. This is particularly the case in your car. In fact, it could be much more dangerous than you think. To avoid taking any risks for your health, we will explain to you today what are the right actions to take.
It is very common to forget a bottle of water on the car seat for a few days. We do not have the reflex to put it in the glove compartment or out of the sun. At first glance this does not seem really dangerous and yet… We should be much more vigilant about this habit.
Firstly, because it is not recommended for your health to drink a bottle of water after it has been left in the vehicle in direct sunlight for too long. When you find it the next day or the day after, full of condensation, it is obvious that it is no longer good to drink. Once opened, it is best to drink it within 24 to 48 hours. After this period, microorganisms risk developing at high speed, particularly due to exposure to heat and light. But also since you drank directly from the neck, which makes it a breeding ground for bacteria. This action directly contaminates the water and the bottle. Result? You are dealing with a real breeding ground after a while.
If it is closed, you can, however, consume it after 48 hours. On the other hand, it is just as dangerous to leave it in your car.
As surprising as it may seem, there is a real danger in leaving your water bottle in your car. An American has actually experienced this. In addition to the risk of poisoning due to bacteria, a simple bottle of water could set your vehicle on fire. Indeed, on Facebookthe American recounted his bitter experience via a video. He explains that he forgot his bottle of water on one of the seats: “I first noticed smoke. Then I realized the bottle was reflecting light onto the car seat and it was starting to catch fire. It was hot enough that it was starting to burn a hole in the seat!”
Fortunately, the young man quickly became aware of the situation and intervened in time to stop the fire, otherwise his car would have ended up in flames. The cause? Quite simply “The magnifying glass effect produced by a water bottle, whether plastic or glass” as indicated Women’s Journal who shared this mishap.
As you will have understood, it is better to remain cautious: do not leave your water bottles in cars!
