Through a ruling, the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice requested the National Electoral Council to “submit within three (3) business days from the notification of this decision, before this Highest Instancethe following instruments related to the Presidential Election process of July 28, 2024: Minutes of the Scrutiny of the Electoral Tables at the national level, the Final Totalization Minutes of the electoral process, as well as the Award Minutes and the Proclamation Minutes of the indicated process”.

Venezuela’s Supreme Court also demands evidence of cyber attack

The Supreme Court of Justice also requested that evidence be presented on the cyber attack reported on election day and which, according to the CNE, delayed the delivery of the results.

“Likewise, since the reported cyber attack against the National Electoral Council’s computer system constitutes a public, notorious and communicative fact, as an impediment to the timely transmission of the electoral results, likewise The Supreme Electoral Body is requested to provide all the evidence associated with such event“, the high court stated in its ruling.

Finally, the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela stated that, “in light of the commitment to peace, democracy, and in pursuit of the constitutional order of the Republic,… it decides that, for this particular case, the office of this body is authorized from Monday to Sunday, both days, inclusive twenty-four (24) hours.”

Candidates attend hearing called by the TSJ

This Friday, the candidates, with the exception of the flag bearer of the majority opposition, Edmundo González Urrutia, attended an appearance convened by the TSJ -chaired by Chavista Caryslia Rodríguez-, who urged “all the subjects involved” to abide by the ruling that will be issued, in a period yet to be estimated, on the review that will be made of the election results.

Rodríguez explained that this hearing responded to the appeal for protection introduced by Maduro, by which the The Electoral Chamber of the court undertakes to “investigate, verify and certify, in an unequivocal and unrestricted manner, the results of these elections”.

González Urrutia, who claims to have won despite the CNE’s announcement, explained that he did not attend the TSJ “in defense of the popular will expressed, in a forceful manner, on July 28, and to prevent that will from being ignored.”

With 96.87% of the votes transmitted counted, according to the balance sheet presented this Friday by the CNE, Maduro was re-elected with 51.95% of the votes, while González Urrutia obtained 43.18% of the votes.

However, the majority opposition – grouped in the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) – published on a website “81%” of the electoral records that show, according to anti-Chavez supporters, that their candidate won the elections by a wide margin, a result recognized by countries such as Argentina, the United States and Peru, among others.
