Maduro’s regime is reported to have “stolen” a truck used by María Corina Machado in Venezuela

In an emotional post on her X account, Venezuelan opposition activist Magalli Meda has denounced the theft of a truck that, according to her, represented the “national sentiment” of the resistance in Venezuela and in which María Corina Machado and Edmundo González travelled.

“REGIME STEALS OUR TRUCK! He leaves loaded with love, hope, light, he takes with him the hugs of our children and the strength of truth. Whoever stole it will regret it a lot. It is not a truck, it is a national sentiment. Thank you Truck, thank you to whoever donated it with so much love to Venezuela,” said Meda.

The truck in question had been used to transport opposition leader María Corina Machado during recent protests in Caracas. These protests have been sparked in response to the results of the July 28 presidential election, in which the CNE declared Nicolás Maduro the winner, amid accusations of electoral fraud.

What the opposition leader said at the demonstration in Venezuela:

This Saturday, August 17, 2024, María Corina Machado addressed thousands of supporters in Caracas, reinforcing her call for mobilization against the regime. In her speech, Machado stressed:

“We long to live with dignity, respect, justice and with our children back home.”

Machado also referred to the stages of the opposition struggle, highlighting the importance of each phase in the process of organization and mobilization:

“We knew, in the first stage, that all strength had to be converted into organizationwith a legitimized leadership and that is why we fought until we achieved citizen primaries without being controlled by the CNE and we achieved it.”

“They told us that Nobody was going to vote in those primaries and almost 3 million Venezuelans came out and demonstrated their organizational capacity.”

“For the third stage, we had to make it the presidential election would take place and have a candidate who represented the democratic forces.”

The theft of the truck has been interpreted by many as a symbolic act of repression against the opposition, who continue to fight for their rights and electoral transparency in Venezuela.
