O The objective is to continue the process of “validating” the election results, after which the electoral body proclaimed the victory of President Nicolás Maduro, which was questioned inside and outside the country.
Rodríguez was accompanied by TSJ members Inocencio Figueroa and Fanny Márquez, as well as international experts and observers, to determine whether the physical records match those received in the database of the CNE’s national counting centers and in order to follow up on the process, requested by Maduro, of certifying the results of the presidential election, reported the state channel VTV.
The Organization of American States (OAS), as well as 22 countries and the European Union (EU), have called on the CNE to publish electoral records and allow independent verification of presidential results.
On Saturday, the main opposition group, the United Democratic Platform (PUD), organized demonstrations inside and outside Venezuela to defend “the victory” that, according to it, was won by Edmundo González Urrutia “with 83.5%” of the votes.
This data, according to the opposition, was collected from witnesses and members of the polling stations in the elections, documents that the Government classifies as false.
González Urrutia was the only one of the 10 former candidates who did not appear before the TSJ for the legal proceedings, as he considered that the body acts in favor of Chavismo, contrary to what Maduro says, who guarantees the solidity of the institution.
