Ingredients

  • 2 stale breads
  • 2 cups (tea) of sugar
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 1 glass of orange liqueur
  • Oil for frying
  • Cherries and orange zest for garnish

Preparation Mode

  1. Cut the bread into 2 cm thick slices. Set aside.
  2. Mix the sugar with the cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Mix the liqueur with the condensed milk.
  4. Dip the bread slices in the mixture quickly so they don’t get soggy.
  5. Then, dip them in beaten eggs and fry in oil at a moderate temperature, submerged, until golden brown.
  6. Remove and place on paper towels.
  7. Dip in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Serve the French toast decorated with orange zest and cherries.

Mom’s Tips

You can replace the orange liqueur with your preferred liqueur.

For the wine French toast, repeat the recipe, replacing the liqueur with 2 glasses of red wine.
