AAustrian authorities found today, in the city of Linz, 53 people in a small truck presumably bound for Germany, according to the Associated Press (AP) agency.
According to the Austrian police, quoted by the AP, there were four men in the cabin of the vehicle at the time it was stopped by the authorities, one of the occupants having tried to flee, without success.
According to the AP, the fugitive was arrested, as well as the remaining three occupants of the cabin, on suspicion of human trafficking.
In the small truck’s cargo compartment, Austrian authorities found 53 people, including children, most of whom came from Turkey, according to police.
Three of the trafficking suspects are of Turkish nationality, aged between 18 and 22 years old, but the identity of the fourth man remains to be determined.
According to the AP, the police have not yet given details about the entire journey of the migrants, but in recent years the authorities have found many people inside vehicles through the route from the Balkans or Austria.
