Sara Carbonero gave an emotional speech about her fight against cancer: “There is a way out and hope”

Spanish journalist Sara Carbonero burst into tears while receiving recognition during the fourth edition of the ELLE Cancer Ball awards.

Sara Carbonero was honored by the Spanish Association Against Cancer after her tireless She has been fighting ovarian cancer for more than six years.

“This is the first time I have spoken openly and publicly about my illness, cancer. A word that I have fled from for years,” said Sara Carbonero, Spanish journalist and activist, while she was applauded by the audience.

“When I found myself diagnosed with cancer in 2019, I was logically shocked; It was terrible, I was 35 years old, a healthy life, I didn’t understand anything. But what I needed at that moment was to talk to women who had gone through the same thing as me and who 10 or 15 years later were alive or strong, which is what I would like to do today with all the people who may be seeing me. right now to tell them that there is a way out,” the excited woman pointed out.

And he did not skimp on prioritizing those he called “mothers of courage”, recognizing their strength in his sons Martín and Lucas.

This is what the journalist confirmed: “I want to send a special message to those mothers and cancer patients with small children who don’t understand anything and you still can’t explain to them why their mother is lying in bed for eight days after each chemo, and at 21 days the same and at 21 days the same (…) and because his mother does not have energy like the mothers of his classmates.”

Carbonero dedicated this award to those like her who fight every day.

“This award belongs to each and every one of the people who are suffering and facing this terrible disease. There is hope, there is light at the end of the tunnel; I am here, six years later, thanks to medicine and love,” the woman confirmed.

The emotional speech was shared by ELLE Spain magazine on Instagram. The outlet described the journalist’s intervention as the “most applaudable of the night.”
