Madalena or “Madeleine”, the delicious traditional French cookie that can be perfect for Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and as part of a snack with friends. Soft and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 + ¾ cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 + ¾ cups (tea) sugar
  • 100 grams of melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 4 eggs

Preparation Mode

  1. Grease and flour a madeleine mold (scallop shell shape).
  2. Sift together the wheat flour and yeast. Book.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the whole eggs with the sugar until the mixture is very homogeneous.
  4. Gradually add the sifted, reserved ingredients.
  5. Add the lemon zest and, lastly, the melted butter.
  6. Place in a pastry bag and fill the prepared molds with portions of dough.
  7. Heat the oven for 15 minutes, letting the dough rest in the pans during this time.
  8. Then, bake them for 15 to 20 minutes, unmold and serve cold.

Mom Tips

You can decorate the cookies by sprinkling them with icing sugar or covering them with melted chocolate.

If you prefer, you can add milk chocolate shavings to the dough.

Madeleine’s own mold can be found at home/confectionery stores.

Serve for tea or breakfast.

This type of biscuit will keep for several days if stored in tightly sealed tins.
