In the absence of results from four states, the Republican candidate already has 292 electoral votes compared to 224 for his rival, who called him to congratulate him.
As in 2016, the uncertainty of election night was short-lived. Trump won two of the seven key states, Georgia and North Carolina, followed by Pennsylvania. He finished off Wisconsin, burying Harris’ hopes. And hours later, Michigan.
The result took both citizens and analysts by surprise, as Americans expected the result to take perhaps days and feared an outbreak of violence if they lost.
The support of the Latin community was important, since the businessman, who was also president of the United States between 2017 and 2021, won the support of 45% of Hispanic voters nationally, compared to 53% for Harris. In 2020 the distribution was 32% and 65%.
“We have made history,” Trump, 78, proclaimed to supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, surrounded by his family, including his wife Melania.

Voter characteristics
When analyzing the voters of both Trump and Kamala, it was concluded that 47% of the people who supported the Republican leader were men, while 53% of the vice president’s voters were women.
Although women’s favoritism towards Joe Biden’s vice president was clear, this population’s preference for the Democratic Party decreased by 5%. if compared to previous elections. While the number of men who voted for the Republican party increased by 2%.
In terms of age, young people between 18 and 29 years old voted 13% more for Kamala than for Trump. This preference was also in people between 30 and 44 years old, where the difference was 5%.

What will happen to the migrants?
During his campaign, Trump assured that one of his government’s priorities is expel migrants in an irregular situation because, according to him, they “poison the blood” of the country.
“These are not civilians. (…) These are people who are not legally in our country. “This is an invasion,” Trump said in an interview with Time magazine last April.
He promised to reconquer the cities “taken by migrants” and seal the border with Mexico to ensure that no more enter without a visa. This Wednesday, after his victory, he stated that foreigners will be able to come, but legally.
It should be noted that during his first term, between 2017 and 2021, Trump attempted to restrict refugee resettlement and temporarily banned travel from seven Muslim-majority countries.
