The snow is starting to fall and temperatures are around 0 degrees, there is no longer any doubt, winter is fast approaching. To cope with this cold, there are some recommendations to take into account to stay in shape. Doctor Jimmy Mohamed recently shared a video on the subject via his Instagram account. We therefore reveal two mistakes to no longer make during cold weather!

In summer, when temperatures are around 40 degrees, health professionals are quick to remind us to drink plenty of water to combat the heat and avoid becoming dehydrated. In winter, when it is cold, this habit is more easily put aside and yet… Dr Jimmy Mohamed affirms, it is essential to drink. “Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hydrate.”

On the contrary, when temperatures are low, we will lose water. In fact, this is just as important as during the summer season. For what ? “Because air that is very cold can be very painful for the bronchi and therefore it will have to be warmed up.” But how do you heat the air? Simply by moistening it. You should therefore not wait until you are thirsty, because the cold can alter your perception and your desire to drink.

It is true that with this cold, we tend to turn to hearty and often quite fatty dishes. It must be said that there is no shortage of comforting recipes: raclette, fondue, tartiflette, truffade: melted cheese is in the spotlight!

However, contrary to popular belief, it is not because the thermometer displays 0 that you necessarily have to eat fat. Eating fatty foods won’t necessarily warm you up. This may be the case for people who work outdoors, “like the lumberjacks” specifies the doctor. But for people with “normal” indoor activity, “you’re not going to burn more calories. So if you eat more, you will gain fat.” However, for health reasons, it is recommended not to overdo it. But we reassure you, we still have the same right to have fun!
