Plane crash in New York leaves one person dead: small plane crashed on a highway

On the night of Thursday, December 12, a serious accident involving a small plane was reported in Westchester County, New York, United States. The accident left one person dead and another seriously injured.

The accident occurred on I-684 near Exit 2 in Harrison. According to authorities, cited by FOX 5 NY, at least two people were on board the single-engine Tecnam P2008 small plane.

The plane crash occurred around 7:15 p.m., after The pilot reported that he had problems during the flight.

The incident occurred three kilometers from the Westchester County Airport, in White Plains. The aircraft, according to flightradar24, reached an altitude of 3,150 feet before plummeting and crashing.

The New York State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration indicated that the person who was seriously injured is receiving medical attention.

This accident caused a gas spill on the road where it was impacted, so the Department of Environmental Conservation had to be present at the point to contain the emergency and clean the area.

For now, authorities are investigating the reasons for the accident. The road where it occurred had to be closed in both directions, which caused traffic inconveniences.
