The authorities of the state of New Mexico, in the United States, are advancing in the investigation of a quadruple homicide perpetrated in a home in the city of Belén. Apparently, the crime would have been committed by a 16-year-old boy identified as Diego Leyva.
The State Police issued a statement through their official Facebook page saying that, around 3:30 a.m. on December 14, 2024, the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Leyva. Herein, The young man would have confessed to the person who answered that “he had killed his family.”

The crime scene
When you arrive at the house, The uniformed officers found that Diego Leyva left it with his hands in the air and in an obvious state of drunkenness.. Upon entering the place they saw 4 dead people and a gun on the kitchen table.
“I want to call and tell them that I killed my parents, my whole family“, the young man is heard saying in an audio revealed by KOAT17.
The young man was arrested without incident and taken to a hospital to detoxify. Subsequently, He was charged with 4 open counts of first degree murder.
Who are the victims?
On December 15, authorities confirmed that the victims of the multiple murder in Belén, New Mexico, are Leonardo Leyva, 42 years old; Adriana Bencomo, 35; Adrián Leyva, 17 years old: and Alexander Leyva, 14. The deceased were the parents and brothers of the detainee, who were found with gunshot wounds.
After detoxification, the teen was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center in Albuquerque.
Meanwhile, the community has shown its astonishment at the inexplicable case of patricide, especially because many cannot believe that the young man attacked his family.
The Valencia County Fire Department mourned the fateful death of Adriana, who was a volunteer with the service, and that of her family. The Bethlehem School District also spoke out in the case, noting the importance of addressing youth mental health challenges.
“We are deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic event involving the murder of his family by a BHS student last Saturday. Our hearts go out to the victims, their loved ones and everyone affected by this devastating loss.“, they said.
