The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia reported this Wednesday the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the bomb attack that killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirilov, head of Russia’s radiological, chemical and biological defense, in Moscow on Tuesday.

According to the FSB statement released by Russian agencies, The detainee is a citizen of Uzbekistan born in 1995, whose identity was not revealed, who confessed to having been recruited by the Ukrainian secret services.

The subject traveled to Moscow at the request of his employers, received a high-powered explosive device and hid it on an electric skateboard that he parked next to the entrance to the building where Kirilov lived, the press release adds.

To monitor the general’s home, he rented a shared car in which he installed a Wi-Fi video camera that transmitted live images to the organizers of the attack, located in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

The FSB added that once the detainee saw the image of the soldiers leaving the building’s portal, he remotely detonated the bomb that killed Kirilov and his assistant.

According to the statement, the Ukrainian secret services promised him $100,000 and the possibility of settling in a European Union country.

Attack in Russia was recorded on video

The moment of the explosion that claimed the life of Lieutenant General Igor Kirilov, 54, was recorded in a video circulating on social networks.

As head of Russia’s radiological, chemical and biological defense, a position he had held since 2017, he regularly gave press appearances, such as the one he had scheduled for Tuesday.

Last August, Igor Kirilov reported that Russia had detected 400 cases of use of chemical munitions by Ukrainian forces.

Russia’s warning

The Russian army has the initiative and is advancing along the entire Ukrainian front, said this Wednesday the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov.

“Despite the colossal help from the West, the initiative on the front line is in our hands and Russian troops are carrying out an offensive along the entire front,” Gerasimov said at a meeting with military attachĂ©s from accredited embassies. in Moscow.

Gerasimov stated that Western countries have sent a total of $350 billion to Ukraine, $170,000 of which was for military needs.

He insisted that despite this, “the objectives of the special military operation will be achieved.”

In particular, this year “more than 190 towns were liberated,” said the chief of the Russian General Staff, specifying that his country’s Army began to control 4,500 more square kilometers of territory.
