Students at the Willms Institute in Germany experienced a one-of-a-kind day when a robot powered by artificial intelligence (AI) took on the role of teacher instead of a human. The robot, called Captcha, was designed by the robotics company Hidoba Research, based in Hong Kong and was responsible for leading a series of conferences and debates on topics related to AI, data analysis and the dissemination of information, according to information from a video published by CNN.
The class, which was held a few days ago, specifically on December 20, 2024, focused on discussing the impact of AI on the creation and distribution of news that may or may not be false. The students, who are not over 30 years old, had the opportunity to interact directly with the robot that has functions based on Artificial Intelligence. They were also able to participate in debates and receive feedback on their views.

The robot wants to teach about AI
“Teaching students about artificial intelligence and how language models can influence the modern world is my goal,” said Captcha during the class introduction. The robot, with its humanoid design and ability to interact naturally, guided students through a series of activities exploring how AI could be contributing to the spread of fake news.
“You have exactly three minutes to present your opening arguments on why AI leads to more fake news,” Captcha said. in the video released by the news channel, while moderating the debate among the students. The idea of the people who designed and brought the robot to the Willms Institute was for students to understand the complex relationship between technology, digital content and the manipulation of information.
Throughout the day, Captcha posed a series of key questions for students about the digital age. “Let’s examine whether artificial intelligence really contributes to the spread of false information, or if it is just another human error,” said the robot, inviting them to consider different perspectives of technology in the creation of digital content, especially on platforms commonly used by young people.
What do students think about the robot that has AI?
“Captcha is definitely a cool guy. I’ve already made very intense eye contact with him, he responds very well to questions,” said Monica Mesaros, One of the students who participated in the class also highlighted that, despite the non-human nature of the robot, she managed to feel a connection with it during the class, which made the experience for her even more interesting.
“It was very exciting to be evaluated by an artificial intelligence after the discussion. There was a little lack of personal contact, but the arguments were all very solid,” commented Kenen Soenmez, another of the students present at the session organized by the German Institute.
According to sources from the same school, this kind of Captcha It represented one of the first real experiments of a robot teaching lessons on the continent. The school highlighted that these types of initiatives open new paths in the integration of technology in classrooms, allowing students to learn about AI and interact and experiment with it, but directly.
