Polpetone or Porpetone is delicious on its own; try parmigiana. Hmmm…!!
Ingredients
- 800 grams of ground beef
- 200 grams of grated mozzarella cheese
- 2 slices of crustless bread
- 1 package of creamed onion powder (68 grams)
- 4 tablespoons chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 5 tablespoons of tomato paste
- ½ cup (tea) of water
- 1 0vo
- Salt to taste
- Fresh basil to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Preparation Mode
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Moisten the slices of bread with water, squeeze well to remove excess liquid and crumble the bread with your hands.
- In a bowl, place the bread, meat, onion cream, salt, egg, basil, pepper and mix until smooth.
- Divide into 6 portions and shape into polpetones.
- Heat a pan with oil and sauté the onion for 3 minutes.
- Add the tomato paste and fry for 2 minutes.
- Add water, salt, pepper and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Heat a frying pan greased with oil and brown the polpetones for 3 minutes on each side.
- Place in an ovenproof dish, cover with a portion of sauce, sprinkle with cheese and drizzle with the remaining sauce.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
Mom Tips
Yields 6 servings.
The meat can be chuck, muscle or duckling.
Serve with a leafy salad, sprinkled with chopped fresh basil.
