Who was Luisa Urbano?
Luisa Urbano had arrived two years ago in the United States. She and her children were in the country with an irregular immigration situation, but urban had the desire to leave the United States, said a neighbor who spoke with local press.
“Last week I was in the basement talking to her,” said the neighbor, in statements cited by The New York Post. “He said that he had arrived here two years ago from Colombia illegally and that now he wanted to return.” “She had come two years ago, then returned and brought the children. But I wasn’t happy here. He didn’t tell me why and I didn’t ask him. I told her that it is not easy to adapt here, you have to wait a few years.”
Urban was a native of Popayán, Cauca. From there, family and friends have joined to raise funds in order to repatriate the bodies of women and their children. Through Gofund Me, the victim’s aunt, who identified himself as Alejandra, asked for help to cover the high funeral costs and repatriation.
“This tragedy has left an immense vacuum in our family. We are from Colombia and we need to take them back to our country, where their loved ones can say goodbye to them as they deserve,” Alejandra said in his message.
For his part, a friend of Urbano, identified as Nick Muñoz also asked for help through his X account even, called President Gustavo Petro. “His family is doing this collection since his expenses are too high,” he said.
The representative to the Chamber Jorge Bastidas asked support from the Chancellery. “I feel a lot of sadness for the murder of the Payanese Luisa Urbano along with her two children, in New Jersey, the US Help to bring them to Popayán so that they can rest in peace in their homeland, fired by those who loved them so much and who cry them without comfort today, “Bastidas wrote.
