- 1 kg of fresh and ripe tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- Italian extra virgin olive oil
- Basil Leaves
- Water
Preparation Mode
- Put water to boil.
- Prepare a bowl with water and ice. Reserve.
- Lightly cut the skin off the tomatoes.
- Place the tomatoes in the boiling water.
- Remove and place in ice water.
- Peel two tomatoes.
- Divide the tomatoes into four parts and remove the seeds.
- Cut into small cubes.
- Finely slice the onion.
- In a medium-sized pan, add the sliced ​​onion and extra virgin olive oil.
- Cook over low heat until the onion gives off a sweet scent.
- Add the tomato and season with salt.
- Let cook over medium heat for approximately 1 hour.
- If necessary, add a little water to avoid burning.
- When you reach the desired point, turn off the heat.
- Add the basil leaves.
Mom Tips
The red onion can be replaced with the white one.
Don’t make the sauce too thick and don’t overdo it with salt.
Do not use a blender to avoid making the sauce pink and frothy.
