“We have a lack of desire for peace on the part of the Zelensky regime”

O Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the regime of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is operating with a rhetoric of war, without any desire for peace.

“We must verify the lack of desire for peace on the part of the Zelensky regime. Its representatives are thinking in terms of war, using very aggressive rhetoric”considered Lavrov, in an exclusive interview with Tass, released this Thursday.

He continued: “Any cessation of combat is out of the question [da parte deles]. The September 30, 2022 ban on holding negotiations with Russian leaders, introduced by Zelensky, remains in force. Draw your own conclusions.”

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that Russia has never rejected any peace talks with Ukraine.

Lavrov previously stated that the longer Kyiv postponed negotiations, the more difficult it would be to reach an agreement. According to the Russian diplomat, the first step in talks between Russia and Ukraine should be the lifting of the ban on Zelensky talking to Moscow.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 22, 2022, with the argument of “denazifying” the neighboring country. The war in Ukraine has already caused tens of thousands of deaths on both sides, but has not seen significant progress in recent months, with the two belligerents remaining irreducible in their territorial positions and without openness to negotiating concessions.
