The German ambassador in Moscow, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, arrived at the Russian ministry this morning and did not speak to journalists, according to Russian news agencies.
An audio recording of a video conference meeting of high-ranking German military officials was released on Russian social media on Friday.
The Russian state broadcaster RT (formerly “Russia Today”) ended up releasing the 30-minute audio recording of German military officers on Friday.
In this conversation, participants discuss in particular the hypothesis of delivering German-made Taurus long-range missiles to Kiev.
On Saturday, Berlin confirmed that the recording was authentic and had been “intercepted.”
That same day, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Germany is conducting an in-depth investigation into a leak of information from officials who discussed confidential matters related to the war in Ukraine.
“This is a very serious matter and that is why it is being investigated very carefully, very thoroughly and very quickly,” Scholz said during a visit to Rome.
Its content is very embarrassing for Germany because Berlin officially refuses to hand over Taurus missiles to Kiev, arguing there is a risk of escalating the conflict.
In Moscow, the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, has already publicly asked her German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, for an explanation of the content of the audio,
In turn, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius on Sunday accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of trying to “destabilize” the country with this recording.
