The former conservative president has already been declared the winner in 12 states of the 15 in dispute. These are Virginia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Maine, Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas and California, the latter two being the most populated in the country, according to US media projections.

His last rival for his party’s presidential nomination, Nikki Haley, has deprived him of an absolute victory, by winning Vermont.

In theory, the primaries can last until July. But Trump’s team predicts a victory “on March 19” at the latest, after Georgia and Florida vote.

The millionaire wants to focus as soon as possible on a rematch with Joe Biden before having to focus on his legal problems. His first criminal trial begins March 25 in New York. On the Democratic side, Biden can rest assured. He has no serious rivals.

The candidacies of two Democrats, Congressman Dean Phillips and self-help author Marianne Williamson, have never sparked enthusiasm despite recurring criticism from voters of the president’s age or his support for Israel.

This turns Tuesday’s elections into a mere formality. At the moment, he has already won 13 states at stake, in addition to Iowa, which held a vote by mail in recent weeks.
