O Former President of Russia and current vice-president of the country’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, stated this Thursday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his entourage were not the target of the Russian attack that took place on Wednesday in Odessa.
“It is obvious to everyone that there was no attack on the delegation in Odessa and that if the target had been defined, they would have been hit.“, said Medvedev through a post on the social network Telegram.
At issue are new Russian bombings on the port city of Odessa, according to Ukrainian authorities, which caused at least five deaths.
The attacks occurred during a visit to the city by Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Russian Armed Forces claimed the success of the operation, whose objective was a hangar with naval ‘drones’ (unmanned devices) that would be used by the Ukrainian Army.
“The objective was achieved”, stated the Russian authorities, who noted that several high-precision missiles fell around 11:40 am in Moscow (08:40 am in Lisbon) on port facilities in Odessa where an attack with unmanned vessels was being prepared.
Zelensky ended up reacting to these attacks and declared that Ukraine needs to receive more air defense systems.
“The world has enough air defense systems and capabilities to produce weapons for defense,” Zelensky said, adding that these “weapons are needed here [na Ucrânia] for Save lives”.
The Ukrainian head of state stated that “decisions” about sending this military material “are necessary now and not later, someday”, as it is necessary to offer security “to people who suffer terrorist attacks day and night”.
