Only one month until New Year’s Eve on December 24. It is time not to think about choosing the Advent calendar but to think about your Christmas meal now. To begin, let’s start planning the aperitif. For it to be successful, there is no need to embark on overly complicated preparations, the main thing is rather to focus on simple recipes that you will enhance thanks to their festive presentation. We are specifically interested in a classic at the start of a meal: the appetizer board.

There are a thousand and one ways to bring it up to date and give it a magical touch. You can, for example, give it the shape of barley sugar or a fir tree. But today we teach you how to make it into a Christmas wreath. You will also know how to transform your little mozzarella balls into Santa Claus to decorate your appetizer crown. With this, you will be sure to impress your guests on the big day.

It was on Instagram that food content creator @makefoodlovely shared her idea to spruce up her aperitif board. For this, nothing could be simpler. Instead of arranging each element randomly on your wooden board, you will start by making a circle, therefore a crown with salad. The salad is a good base because it really allows you to create the shape you want. Then, you will decorate this crown with salad.

In the video, the young woman adds some cherry tomatoes but unfortunately the tomato is not in season, we forget this version for the winter and keep it for summer aperitifs. We advise you to replace the tomato with another seasonal vegetable if you want to reproduce this recipe for the holidays. Opt instead for more comforting alternatives that will have an impact, such as lightly grilled butternut cubes, pretty bouquets of roasted cauliflower or more original pieces of caramelized Jerusalem artichokes. We’re salivating in advance. It’s up to you to find the perfect combo for your crown!

In addition, you are free to enhance it with various ingredients. So, you have the option of opting for some dried fruits like pistachios or olives which will also do the job very well. Obviously, you can also delicately place a few slices of ham or salmon. It’s up to you to give free rein to your imagination for your Christmas board.

On the cheese side, in her video, the food content creator makes little snowmen with mozzarella balls.

To do this, simply take a silicone mold with the shape you want to give the cheese. Cook everything for 15 minutes at 160° degrees. Then let them cool. To cool them more quickly, you can slide them into the fridge for 10/12 minutes. Then, tap the mold and the little characters should come out on their own. Finally, arrange them on the crown.

At the end, don’t forget to season your crown with a little oil, vinegar if you wish, salt and pepper.

If you only rely on salad, tomato and mozzarella for your crown, you can also serve it as an accompaniment for the starter or main course to have a little greenery with your meat or fish. This will be a nice way to present it rather than putting it in a salad bowl. It’s up to you to test!
