O US President Joe Biden said he would consider dropping out of the presidential race if he were diagnosed with a “health issue,” CBS reported, citing an excerpt from Biden’s interview with BET News.
“If I had a health problem, if someone, the doctors, came to me and said, you have this problem and that problem,” he said when asked what would make him reconsider running for the White House.
The president said at a press conference last week that none of his doctors have told him he has any medical conditions beyond the issues that have already been publicly disclosed.
Earlier this month, Biden said during an interview with ABC that he would only drop out of the race if the “Lord Almighty” told him to do so.
Biden’s comments come as Democrats have called for him to withdraw his re-election bid over concerns about his age and mental competence.
These doubts have been heightened especially after his poor performance in the debate against Donald Trump, as well as the constant gaffes he has made in public situations.
