“C“I condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s ongoing war on Ukraine and its efforts to plunge the Ukrainian people into darkness. Let me be clear: Russia will never succeed in Ukraine, and the spirit of the Ukrainian people will never be broken,” a White House statement released Monday read.
Joe Biden denounced a “barrage of missiles and drones” against cities and energy infrastructure, in an “outrageous attack that killed civilians and targeted more than two dozen critical energy sites.”
The US President also stressed that Washington “will continue to lead a coalition of more than 50 countries in support of Ukraine” that “supplies” military equipment, including air defense systems and interceptors.
“We are increasing energy equipment to Ukraine to repair its systems and strengthen the resilience of the country’s energy grid,” he said.
The wave of attacks, carried out with missiles and drones, spread to more than a dozen regions, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledging that it was one of Russia’s largest combined bombardments since the start of the invasion in February 2022: 127 missiles and 109 drones were launched.
According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 11 Tu-95 strategic bombers, which can carry guided missiles, were involved in these attacks.
Information provided by the Ukrainian government speaks of explosions in Kiev, Kryvy Rih, Zaporizhia, Odessa and the Vinnytsia and Kropyvnytsky regions and in several locations in the Lviv oblast and in Lutsk, an hour’s drive from the Polish border.
