Boric referred to his dialogue with Petro about elections in Venezuela: “We agree”

Chilean President Gabriel Boric made a public statement following a dialogue with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who invited him to join a Latin American bloc with Mexico and Brazil to request that the results of the Venezuelan elections be made public, which, according to the CNE, were won by Nicolás Maduro.

“I just spoke with Colombian President Gustavo Petro about the tense situation we are experiencing at a regional level due to the uncertainty that exists in Venezuela,” Gabriel Boric initially wrote in a message posted at 5:51 pm on his social media account X.

The Chilean president then emphasized that he agrees with Gustavo Petro on the need to respect the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people.

“We agree that it is essential that the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people be fully respected and that the election results be made transparent as soon as possible through impartial verification.“, he noted.

In this regard, he concluded that they will work “together to help ensure that peace and democracy prevail in our America.”
