This salad, much appreciated around the world, cannot be left out of your menu!

Ingredients

  • 2 bunches of iceberg lettuce
  • 1 can of cream without whey
  • 2 cups (tea) of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove of grated garlic
  • 3 anchovy fillets
  • 6 slices of crustless white bread, cut into small cubes
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • ½ tablespoon of oregano
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup (tea) of grated parmesan cheese

Preparation Mode

  1. Clean the lettuce, tear the leaves with your hands, place in a salad bowl and store in the refrigerator.
  2. In a heated frying pan over medium heat, place the bread and drizzle with half of the olive oil and oregano.
  3. Without stopping stirring, fry until golden, remove and set aside.
  4. In a bowl, crush the anchovy with the garlic, season with pepper and salt and mix until you get a paste.
  5. Mix the mayonnaise and sour cream.
  6. Add the remaining olive oil, lemon juice and beat with an egg beater or a simple fork.
  7. Season with salt and pepper and spread over the lettuce.
  8. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and croutons.
  9. Serve.

Mom’s Tips

There are many versions of Caesar Salad. It can be enjoyed with other ingredients such as chicken, bacon, shrimp, etc.

Anchovies can be replaced with tuna.

Yields approximately 4 servings.

Croutons are golden, crispy cubes of bread (described in the preparation method).
