In a message posted on X this weekend, the singer’s management team and her record label confirmed that the use of what was the central theme of the film Titanic “is not authorized in any way.”
Why does Celine Dion not approve the use of her songs in Donald Trump’s campaign?
“Céline Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., have been made aware of the unauthorized use of the video, recording, musical performance and likeness of Céline Dion singing My Heart Will Go On at a Donald Trump/JD Vance (her running mate) campaign rally in Montana,” the statement said.
He stressed that at no time did the Trump campaign team contact them to validate the use of this recording and that, if they had done so, They would not have authorized it, since neither the singer nor her team agree with her work being used for political purposes..
“This use is not authorized in any way and Céline Dion does not endorse this or any similar use. …And really, THAT song?” the diva’s team asked, referring to the song that won an Oscar and a Golden Globe and is associated with the tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic.
This is not the first time that some artists have given Trump problems when using their songs. In addition to the Canadian star, other singers such as Elton John and the rock band Kiss have also done so in the past.
