Ingredients

  • 600 grams of cherries
  • ½ glass of port wine
  • 400 grams of sugar
  • 1 lemon peel
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Preparation Mode

  1. Clean the cherries.
  2. Remove the pits.
  3. Bring a pan with all the ingredients to the boil.
  4. Stir until the sugar forms a syrup.
  5. When boiling, reduce to low heat.
  6. Stir occasionally until it reaches jelly consistency.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool.
  8. Store in sterilized jars.

Mom’s Tips

When the jelly is ready, it falls from the wooden spoon in sheets.

Do not let the jelly overcook, as it may become sugary or have a burnt sugar taste or a “sucky” consistency.
