Colombian Foreign Minister spoke about Venezuela
The clash of versions regarding Edmundo González’s departure from Venezuela has produced different statements regarding the matter. Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo said that there must have been an agreement between the Government of Spain and the Government of Venezuela.
“The truth is that you cannot guarantee asylum to someone if a safe conduct pass is not requested so that the person can leave the country… those are, even if you do not call it an agreement, an agreement.“, commented the chancellor, who gave the example of Colombia with Jorge Glas.
Despite this, Murillo highlighted the dialogue that should have been held, because It was in compliance with the conventions on political asylum.
In addition, the Colombian spokesman said that his position regarding Venezuela has not changed at all and that the country “continues to offer its good services to facilitate mediation in the decisions made by Venezuelans, respecting their autonomy, but always in search of political peace.”
