Colonel of the Colombian Police Jorge Mora was recognized as one of the most important men in the fight anti-corruption
from 2024. The recognition was delivered by the United States Government, led by Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

Who is Colonel Jorge Mora?
He Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Alexander Mora Cortés is head of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Directorate and Interpol of Colombia, a group of 220 researchers who fight against this scourge throughout the national territory. This Monday, December 9, 2024, within the framework of the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day, became the first police officer in the world to receive this recognized award from the US Government.

In his speech, Antony Blinken highlighted the Colombian police officer’s commitment to the anti-corruption fight, a dispute that forced him, along with his wife and newborn, to move to a safe place.
“Our families will always be affected in the sense that they are sacrificed for the work we do as police, but this is a job we do with a lot of love.“said the uniformed man.
The director of the Colombian Police, General William René Salamanca, exalted the award obtained by Colonel Jorge Mora, saying that this is an award that exalts the joint work of the institution and the Prosecutor’s Office.

What is the Anti-Corruption Champions Award?
The Anti-Corruption Champions Award is an award that was launched by the United States in 2021 to recognize people who have made significant efforts in the fight to eradicate this scourge.
In 2024, 10 “anti-corruption heroes” from around the world were decorated by the North American Secretary of State. The winners were:
