Quick meal? Try the delicious sandwich that is very popular in France.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of Italian bread
- 4 teaspoons of butter
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard
- 8 slices of ham
- 4 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
- Black pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
Cream Ingredients
- 90 grams of gouda cheese
- 80 ml of cream
- ¼ cup (tea) softened butter
- 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
- ¼ cup dry white wine
- 1 pinch of nutmeg powder
Cream preparation method
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Little by little add the flour and stir.
- Add small amounts of cream and wine alternately, stirring after each addition to thicken the cream before adding the next amount.
- Season with nutmeg, pepper and salt.
- Stirring constantly, melt the cheese in this cream, in small quantities.
- Reduce heat to low and keep the sauce warm until ready to use.
Sandwich Preparation Method
- Spread ½ teaspoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Then, spread about ½ tablespoon of mustard on the opposite side.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Assemble the sandwiches by placing four slices in the pan, butter side down.
- Top each with two slices of ham.
- Reserve some sauce (cream) and place spoonfuls of cheese sauce over the ham.
- Arrange the remaining bread slices, mustard side down, on top of the cheese and ham.
- Grill the sandwiches on both sides until the bread browns all over.
- Spoon some of the cheese sauce over each sandwich before serving.
- Decorate each with 1 teaspoon of parsley.
