Quick meal? Try the delicious sandwich that is very popular in France.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of Italian bread
  • 4 teaspoons of butter
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices of ham
  • 4 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste

Cream Ingredients

  • 90 grams of gouda cheese
  • 80 ml of cream
  • ¼ cup (tea) softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat flour
  • ¼ cup dry white wine
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg powder

Cream preparation method

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Little by little add the flour and stir.
  3. Add small amounts of cream and wine alternately, stirring after each addition to thicken the cream before adding the next amount.
  4. Season with nutmeg, pepper and salt.
  5. Stirring constantly, melt the cheese in this cream, in small quantities.
  6. Reduce heat to low and keep the sauce warm until ready to use.

Sandwich Preparation Method

  1. Spread ½ teaspoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Then, spread about ½ tablespoon of mustard on the opposite side.
  3. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches by placing four slices in the pan, butter side down.
  5. Top each with two slices of ham.
  6. Reserve some sauce (cream) and place spoonfuls of cheese sauce over the ham.
  7. Arrange the remaining bread slices, mustard side down, on top of the cheese and ham.
  8. Grill the sandwiches on both sides until the bread browns all over.
  9. Spoon some of the cheese sauce over each sandwich before serving.
  10. Decorate each with 1 teaspoon of parsley.
