NAt the convention, which will run until Thursday, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will seek to keep alive the enthusiasm surrounding their candidacies for President and Vice President, since Joe Biden withdrew from the race for the White House.

The meeting is expected to promote the Democrats’ political program, explored throughout the week by former presidents, elected officials and other prominent figures in the party.

The stage will also be used by Harris and, above all, Walz to attack Trump’s attributes — the point that polls indicate is the weakest point in the Republican candidacy for the November presidential elections.

For the campaign component, Harris’ pollsters are trying to convince her to take advantage of the convention to focus on the issue of inflation, but replacing that word (so as not to attack Biden’s legacy) with the word ‘affordability’ (the ability for people to pay their bills at the end of the month).

Harris’ campaign advisers appear to be advising the candidate not to try to capitalize on either her ethnicity or her female gender, but instead to focus on two messages: the threat to democracy that a Trump victory would pose (remembering that he promised to be a dictator on his first day in office); and the ideas that the Democratic Party wants to prevail now that Biden has dropped out of the presidential race.

While the Chicago pavilion will feature strong names from the Democratic Party to speak about the central themes of the campaign — immigration, access to abortion, inflation, security — the organization is equally concerned with holding parties that prove that the party is not only mobilized to win the elections, but is also going through a phase of enthusiasm and unity.

The convention will feature stars such as artist John Legend, and it is still uncertain whether Beyoncé or Taylor Swift will also participate in any event, and the Creative Coalition organization (an influential group of activists linked to the world of entertainment) has already promised that it will hold the best party of the week, on Wednesday, with a concert with many stars and hosted by actress Octavia Spencer.

The following day, at the closing of the convention, it will be the turn of controversial comedian Jon Stewart to act as master of ceremonies, after many parties and concerts were held over the four days.

What is new is the access that has been given to the presence of content producers and Internet influencers, who will be able to share the media space alongside journalists, in a gesture that repeats what Republicans have allowed for many years and that seeks to explore other areas of dissemination of the political message.
