NThe Russian offensive, according to a statement from the community executive, involves attacking vital infrastructures such as energy plants, hospitals or Ukrainian schools, affecting civilian populations in the country.
The main tranche, €75 million, is earmarked for humanitarian projects aimed at providing emergency relief, including access to basic needs such as shelter, clean water, education and healthcare.
A portion of eight million euros is intended for humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova.
According to data from Brussels, with the funding allocated today, the European Union’s support for people affected by the war in Ukraine (860 million euros) and refugees in Moldova (66 million euros) now totals 926 million euros.
The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24, 2022, plunged Europe into the biggest security crisis since the Second World War (1939-1945).
