NOn the social network X, Josep Borrell wrote that Israel’s Minister of National Security, the far-right settler Itamar Ben Gvir, is inciting war crimes by advocating cutting off access to fuel and aid to Palestinian civilians.
“As Minister Smotrich’s sinister statements [ministro das Finanças de Israel]this is an incitement to war crimes. Sanctions must be on the EU’s agenda,” said the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy.
Last week, Borrell had already criticized statements by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said that “it could be justified and moral” for Israel to “starve two million civilians to death” until the hostages were returned.
While the World pushes for a ceasefire in #GazaMin. Ben Gvir calls for cutting fuel & aid to civilians.
Like Min. Smotrich sinister statements, this is an incitement to war crimes. Sanctions must be on our EU agenda.

“Deliberately starving civilians is a war crime […]this is beyond ignoble”, criticized Josep Borrell.
The head of European diplomacy called on the Israeli government to “unequivocally distance itself from these incitements to war crimes and to participate in good faith in the negotiations, facilitated by the United States, Qatar and Egypt, to reach an immediate ceasefire.”
European Union foreign ministers will meet informally in Brussels on the 28th and 29th of this month.
