A US Vice President Kamala Harris reiterated her admiration for President Joe Biden on Monday and has already made promises if she is elected in the November presidential election. In a speech, the Democrat also assured that knows the “Donald Trump type” and assured that he will “proudly compare” the history of both.
“Today, just after Joe Biden made his announcement, it was important for me to continue his leadership role and come personally to thank you for your efforts.”Kamala Harris said during a campaign event in Wilmington, Delaware, referring to the fact that Biden announced on Sunday that he was giving up his re-election campaign.
“I know it’s been a rollercoaster and we all have mixed emotions following this announcement. I love Joe Biden and I know we all do. We have so many good reasons to love Joe Biden and I have every faith that this team will be the reason we win in November.”he added. “We are a team, a fight.”
The Democrat stressed that her team believes in “freedom, opportunity and justice, not for some, but for all” and recalled that “there are 106 days until election day”, with “a lot of work to do until then”.
“In the next 106 days, we will take our case to the American people and we will win.”he shot.
Kamala Harris also highlighted the achievements achieved by President Joe Biden, in office since 2021, including the creation of “millions of jobs” and the control of the “Covid-19 pandemic”, in addition to having “defended democracy”.
Already on the campaign trail, Harris promised that “strengthening the middle class will be a determining objective” of her presidency. The candidate also promised a “assault weapons ban” and said he would fight for “reproductive freedom”.
She also compared her career to that of Republican White House candidate Donald Trump, and recalled that she was a United States attorney and “faced criminals of all kinds.” Trump was recently convicted on 34 charges, most of them for falsifying documents.
“I’ve faced criminals of all stripes. Predators who abused women. Con artists who deceived consumers. Cheaters who bent the rules for their own gain. So believe me when I say, ‘I know the type of Donald Trump. I know the type of Donald Trump, and in this campaign, I will proudly compare my record to his.'”he assured.
It should be noted that, shortly after announcing his withdrawal, the US president declared his “full support” for Kamala Harris, as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate for the November 5 elections.
Harris thanked the support and accepted the challenge of starting the campaign to become the Democratic candidate and face the Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.
In less than 24 hours, Kamala Harris has already managed to secure the support of more than 700 delegates out of the 1,986 needed to be the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, according to a count compiled by the AP.
To be a candidate against Trump in November, the US vice president must be confirmed by delegates at the Democratic National Convention, which will take place in Chicago from August 19 to 22.
