O The US Department of Defense has detailed that two drones flew over the Al-Asad air base in western Iraq, and that US military personnel managed to shoot down one of the aircraft.

The other managed to hit the base, but the damage it caused was minimal, department spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told a news conference.

Since the war in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, with Hamas’ attack on Israel, US troops in Iraq and Syria have been attacked by forces loyal to Iran, in response to US support for Israel.

On April 21, the Rumaly base in Syria was attacked and a day later the same thing happened at the Al-Assad air base in Iraq.

Earlier in January, three US soldiers were killed in a drone attack on a military base in Jordan, claimed by the Iraqi Islamic Resistance coalition of militias.

In February, the US responded by striking pro-Iranian militia positions in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

A total of 45 people were killed in these attacks against targets linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in eastern Syria and western Iraq.
