EIn a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they had successfully concluded operations in central Gaza, concentrated in Deir al Balah, Bureij and Nuiserat.

And they detailed that they killed around a hundred alleged militants in the east of Deir al Balah, where they also located weapons and destroyed Hamas infrastructure.

“There are still 120 hostages in Gaza and we will not stop until we bring them home, that is what we are committed to. We will also destroy the enemy and dismantle their underground and above-ground infrastructure”, the IDF stressed in the note.

Israeli forces rescued four hostages detained in the Gaza Strip during an operation in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The United Nations declared itself today, in Geneva, “deeply shocked” by the impact on civilians of the operation to free hostages and “deeply distressed” by the fact that Palestinian groups continue to hold people kidnapped.

The UN resolution for a ceasefire, which this Monday had 14 votes in favor and Russia’s only abstention, is the fourth approved by the Security Council on the war in Gaza.

The previous three had no effect after Benjamin Netanyahu’s government ignored them and maintained the offensive that has already left Gaza devastated.

This UN body gave support this Monday to the United States’ truce proposal, launched ten days ago, divided into three phases and which now urges both parties to implement the terms of the proposal without delay or conditions, including “a cease immediate fire and release of hostages.”

In the last few hours, Israel has insisted once again that it will not put a definitive end to the war before achieving its three objectives: weakening Hamas’ military and civilian capabilities, making it no longer a threat to Israel and bringing home the 116 hostages still held captive since October 7th.

“The proposal presented allows Israel to achieve these objectives and we will do so”, said an Israeli official today about the UN Security Council resolution, which establishes a three-phase plan to end hostilities in Gaza.

The Islamist group Hamas, for its part, expressed its satisfaction with this resolution and said it was willing to cooperate with the mediators to implement it.

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, indicated today that the Islamist group’s reaction to the peace proposal is a “sign of hope”, but that they are still awaiting an official response from Hamas.

The Gaza Strip remains under Israeli fire after 249 days of war and on the last day the Israeli Army killed 40 Gazans and injured another 120, according to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, controlled by Hamas, which raised the number of deaths to 37,164, mostly women and children, and the number of injured to 84,832.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than a million people in the Strip face “catastrophic levels of food insecurity” and more than 96% of women and children do not consume the necessary nutrients due to a lack of dietary diversity .
