What does Israel propose?

According to the informants, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, this plan – which has yet to be discussed and presented to the Islamist group Hamas – includes three phases and a possible permanent cessation of Israel’s military campaign in the Gaza Strip.

The first stage stipulates a temporary ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Rafah crossing, that connects Gaza with Egypt, as well as the release of all living hostages held by Hamas in exchange for the release of a group of Palestinian prisoners in prisons of the Jewish State.

The second contemplates a withdrawal of troops from the Netzarim axisthe corridor that divides the Strip from north to south, and the exchange of “most” of the bodies of the hostages killed by the corpses of Hamas fighters, always according to the sources.

In addition, Israel requests that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) control the Rafah crossing with the supervision of “fArab and international forces“.

The sources told EFE that Egypt and Qatar are doing “intense efforts” to stop the war in Gaza, while they will also try to “make amendments to the text in favor of Hamas” for the Islamist group to accept the proposal, although there are doubts about Israel’s true will to stop the war in Gaza.
