OThe bodies of 14 people and an unknown number of wounded were transported to the Nasser medical complex in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, after Israeli shelling of several parts of the city, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

In a statement, Hamas identified two journalists among the dead: “The criminal Zionist occupation army killed two Palestinian journalists, Tamim Muammar and Abdallah al-Susi, along with several members of their families, in attacks in the city of Khan Yunis.”

Five civilians were killed, including Muamar, who worked for Palestine Voice Radio and Palestine TV, and others were injured when the journalist’s family home in the center of Khan Yunis was attacked, Wafa said.

Claiming the presence of militiamen, Israeli troops began a new incursion into Khan Yunis this morning.

On August 4, Israel had also ordered the evacuation of neighborhoods in the southeast of the city.

The inhabitants are forced to move to a so-called humanitarian zone in Mawasi, which is increasingly shrinking and which, in any case, has already been the target of bombings and where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are crowded into a tangle of tents and living in extremely poor living conditions.

According to the UN agency for the coordination of humanitarian affairs [OCHA, na sigla em Inglês]around 200,000 people were evacuated from Khan Yunis between 22 and 27 July, during the Israeli army’s latest ground incursion, which left much of the city completely devastated.

The toll, carried out 24 hours ago by the Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health, put the death toll at 39,699, of which 167 were journalists and professionals in the sector, and 91,722 were injured.

The vast majority of these victims are women and children.

Added to these figures are ten thousand missing under the rubble and 1.9 million displaced people, who survive without conditions, amidst widespread destruction, the collapse of hospitals, outbreaks of epidemics, hunger and the lack of drinking water, food and medicine.
