O The Israeli army launched an operation in Jenin and Tulkarem at dawn.
The Palestinian Authority’s Health Ministry had previously mentioned that two men aged 25 and 39 were killed by “occupation forces” in Jenin.
In addition, the Palestinian Red Crescent recovered the bodies of three people who were in a vehicle that was bombed by a drone in the city of Sir, located between Jenin and Tubas.
Four other men were killed when they were bombed by an Israeli drone in the Al Fara refugee camp, south of Tubas, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Sources told WAFA that emergency services are having difficulty reaching victims because the refugee camp has been surrounded by the IDF.
Israeli tanks also surrounded the Al Isra and Thabet hospitals in Tulkarem, and even searched a medical vehicle.
The Islamic Jihad movement accused Israel of “launching an all-out aggression against the northern occupied West Bank in an open and undeclared war” and claimed that Tel Aviv’s ultimate goal is to annex the region.
“The occupation commits its crimes in light of the scandalous Arab, international and popular inaction. The operation takes place while the occupation continues to commit genocidal massacres in Gaza, ignoring international demands,” the movement said in a statement quoted by the newspaper ‘Filastín’.
The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7, launching thousands of rockets and incursions by armed militiamen, which killed more than 1,140 people, most of them civilians, according to a tally by the France-Presse news agency, based on official Israeli figures.
About 240 people were kidnapped and taken to Gaza, according to Israeli authorities. Of these, about 100 were released in late November during a truce in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and 105 hostages remain held in the Palestinian territory, 34 of whom are believed to have died.
Since October 7, IDF operations and Israeli settler attacks have left more than 630 Palestinians dead in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
In response to the attack, Israel declared war on Hamas, the movement that has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007 and is classified as a terrorist group by the European Union and the United States, bombing several of the group’s infrastructures and imposing a total siege on the territory, cutting off water, fuel and electricity supplies.
The Israeli military campaign has left 40,405 people dead and 93,468 injured in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-controlled enclave’s Health Ministry said on Sunday.
